It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we announce the passing away of our dear colleague Mr. George Youssef El-Khoury, Syndicate Board Member, on the 28^th of January 2021.

The news of the death of our dear colleague and friend, Mr. George El-Khoury fills our hearts with sadness. Our souls, as colleagues, family and friends, are hardened of pain on hearing of his premature disappearance.

His generosity and loyalty to the profession and the Syndicate, a member of which since 2000, and the integrity of his character made him very dear to us all.

Mr. George El-Khoury will be deeply missed. We extend our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to his family. May God give us all the comfort and peace that we seek and may the soul of our loved friend rest in peace.

Translation is becoming increasingly important in many aspects of the daily life. Translation in the modern world has become an urgent necessity for the exchange of news, knowledge, science and cultures. It has become the most important element in civilizational communication and in the establishment of interactive relations between nations to achieve progress and prosperity.

A delegation of the Association of Certified Public Translators headed by President Ghassan HAJJ ALI participated in the book signing ceremony of Colleague Hanna DIB during Beirut International Book Fair.

The Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon has organized a training session on the  Legal Translation on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the  Association Center in the presence of the Executive Board of the Association, presided by President Ghassan HAJJ ALI and in the presence of universities professors, students, translation professionals, establishments and offices, in addition to a number of translators where the legal translation was treated in addition  to the syndicate activities.

People around the world celebrate this occasion today where the role of the translation profession is praised, this profession that expresses their needs and reflects their development and rise in the different fields of knowledge.

The Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon invites all its members, in addition to their employees, parents, friends and partners to participate in the race named “Blom Bank Beirut Marathon” that will take place on Sunday, November 11, 2018.

The registration for the participation in the race has begun, noting that the deadline for registration will be on October 25, 2018.

A delegation of the members of the Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon, presided by the President Ghassan HAJJ ALI, visited the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Jean FAHED where they discussed the demands and needs of the translators.

On the basis of the Supplementary Elections held on December 15, 2017, the President of the Association of Certified Public Translators, Walid MOUSSALLEM,  has convoked for a meeting in order to distribute the positions within the administrative body and therefore, a meeting was held at the place of the Association at 02: 00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 in the presence of the colleagues Walid MOUSSALLEM, Ghassan HAJJ ALI, Maroun MONSEF, Elie NAYEL, Ali DAHER, Aline SAWAYA, Lama KALLAS, Fadi CHAKHTOURA, Georges YOUSSEF EL KHOURY and Hadi GEDEON.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Walid MOUSSALLEM thanked the members for assuming their duties during his mandate, wished all the success for the new council and requested the election of the President.

Colleague Ghassan HAJJ ALI stood as a candidate and won the position unanimously.

After that, the new president Ghassan HAJJ ALI presided the meeting and thanked the former president Walid MOUSSALLEM and the members of the council for their trust and called for the fulfillment of the other positions. The results were as follows:

- Colleague Walid MOUSSALLEM: Vice-President, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Maroun MONSEF: Secretary, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Fadi CHAKHTOURA: Secretary, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Georges YOUSSEF EL KHOURY: Delegate of the Syndical contribution, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Hadi GEDEON: Consultant, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Aline SAWAYA: Media Consultant, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Ali DAHER: Accountant, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Elie NAYEL: Public Relations Consultant, by unanimous consent

- Colleague Lama KALLAS: Consultant of the End of Service Compensation, by unanimous consent

Then, President Ghassan HAJJ ALI praised the unanimous consent, requesting the continuity of the work for the progress and prosperity of the Association. The meeting was adjourned at 02:30 pm after the minutes were signed by all the members.

The Ordinary General Assembly of the Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon has met on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 06:00 p.m. at the Mövenpick Hotel, Raouche, Beirut, headed by the President Walid MOUSSALLEM and in the presence of the members of the Board and a number of ex-presidents and members where 6 new members of the board were elected following the expiration of the mandate of 5 members and the resignation of one member. As well, the financial statement of the Association for the years 2015 and 2016 was ratified.

The general assembly has discussed the living conditions of the translators who came to participate from all the Lebanese regions, stressing on the necessity to pay attention to the translators’ affairs and problems and in particular, on the unification of the translation tariffs and on the amendment of the laws for the application of the mandatory affiliation with the Association through the conversion of the Association into a mandatory one.

The Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon has held its annual gathering in the evening of Friday, December 15, at Mövenpick Hotel, Raouche, Beirut.

The dinner began with the national anthem and then extracts of the Association activities were presented. President Walid MOUSSALLEM delivered a welcome speech in which he thanked the audience, focusing on the pioneering role that the Association plays in order to raise the profession of translation and to preserve the rights of the translators.

A delegation of the syndicate, headed by President Walid MOUSSALLEM, visited the presidential palace and extended congratulations on the Independence Day.

The Board of the Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon, under the presidency of President Walid MOUSSALLEM, offers the warmest congratulations on the occasion of the International Translation Day.

The world celebrates this occasion today where the role of the translation profession is praised, this profession that has become a persistent need in order to keep pace with the progress of civilization in front of the world’s development and global events. The translation has played an important role in enriching the cultural, social, scientific and intellectual life of various nations.

Prime Minister Sheikh Saad AL HARIRI and the President of the Association, the translator Walid MOUSSALLEM, at the Grand Serail during the Iftar of the syndicates and universities. 

President Walid MOUSSALLEM and the Consultant of Public Relations Colleague Elie NAYEL have met with his Excellency Deputy Amal ABOU ZEID in order to follow up the matters related to the Association. 

A delegation from the Board of Association, headed by President Walid MOUSSALLEM, has met with the consultant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Mr. Patrick KHOURY at the place of the Minister Gebran BASSIL in Batroun in order to discuss the relation between the Ministry and the Sworn Translators.

Starting from the right side, appear the colleagues Elie Nayel, Hanna LOUIS, Sarkis MOUBARAK, Patrick KHOURY, President Walid MOUSSALLEM, colleagues Kamil KHABBAZ and Ghassan HAJJ ALI.

Upon a private invitation, a number of colleagues and board members have met for a dinner in the presence of President Walid MOUSSALLEM at Lamb House restaurant, Raouche, for the occasion of the holiday season during which the president has welcomed in his speech the attendees, wished them happy holidays and shared with them the latest news of the Association.

The Department of Languages and Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Balamand University, in cooperation with the Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon, has held a discussion about the legal translation and syndical activity in the presence of the Media Consultant at the said Association Mrs. Aline SAWAYA and a number of officers at the faculty, teachers and students.

A delegation of the syndicate, headed by President Walid MOUSSALLEM, visited the presidential palace and extended congratulations on the Independence Day. 

On Sunday, November 13, 2016, the Capital Beirut has witnessed the annual sport event “Beirut Marathon”, bearing the name “Blom Bank Beirut Marathon” and the slogan “Run for the Long Run”.

The Association of Certified Public Translators has participated in this race with the presence of the Board of the Association, presided by the President Walid MOUSSALLEM, in addition to a number of members, parents, friends and guests.

The Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon announces the signature of a cooperation agreement with Beirut Marathon Association aiming for a cooperation and partnership between both parties in order to achieve national goals by spreading awareness through sports in general and through running in particular, to promote the concept of volunteer work, to provide healthy lifestyles and to develop skills in the organization of sports activities and to promote the participation in such activities, the fact that consolidates the ties between both parties.

The Association invites all its members, in addition to their employees, parents, friends and partners to participate in the race named “Blom Bank Beirut Marathon” that will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2016 under the slogan “Run for the Long Run”. This year’s start point will be in Beirut Waterfront, Biel while the finish line will be located in the historic Martyr’s.

The complementary elections of the Association of Certified Public Translators have taken place on December 18, 2015 at Smallville Hotel and the following sworn translators have won by acclamation: Ghassan HAJJ ALI, Ali DAHER, Aline SAWAYA, Nathalie BEKAI and Elie NAYEL.
